This exhibition is an extraordinary historical document.
Henri Cartier-Bresson has been the first western photograph authorized to make a reportage in the Soviet Union after the Second World War. The photos, collected in the book "A propos de l'URSS, Henri Cartier-Bresson" (Editions du Chêne, Paris, 1973) and some are also unknown, date back to 1954 and 1972-73 and they portray all the aspects of the daily life, i.e. from work to amusement, mixed with themes of the big History.
Henri Cartier-Bresson has often been defined as the eye of the century.
The artist, regarded as one of the photography fathers, established the Magnum with Capa, Chim, Rodger and Vandivert in 1947 and now it is the most important photo agency. He went on travelling and making a lot of reports, that made him get famous.
The exhibition has been created in collaboration with the Fondation Henri Cartoer-Bresson, Magnum Photos and Contrasto, with the support of Company of San Paolo.
